OUR VISION

For 140 years, God has faithfully sustained Kirkwood Church as a place where lives are transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. Generation after generation has worshiped, served, sacrificed, and invested so that others could know and follow Him. Because of their faithfulness, countless stories of salvation, restoration, and hope have been written—and we are part of that story today. As we celebrate God's faithfulness in the past, we give thanks for the foundation He has built and the mission that continues to shape us.

For 140 years, God has been faithful to Kirkwood Church.

Today, God is opening new doors

As He continues to bring more people and more opportunities for ministry to Kirkwood Church, we are seeing our worship gatherings at capacity, our children's spaces overflowing, and our growing community creating an unprecedented opportunity to reach our neighbors with the hope of Christ.

While we are grateful for this season of growth, we recognize that our current facilities are limiting our ability to gather, disciple, and welcome those God is sending. We believe this moment is an invitation to faithfully prepare for what God desires to do next.

We believe God is calling us to be a church FOR THE ONE.

is a vision for the future of Kirkwood church that has four major components, each crucial to what it means to be a faithful New Testament Church.

We want to be a church…

OUR GOALS

Goal 1: 100% Participation

Every Family Involved

We want every individual, every couple, every family, and every child to be a part of what God is doing.

Stepping Out In Faith

This is an invitation for everyone to pause, pray, and ask: "Lord, what would sacrificial faithfulness look like for us?"

Equal Obedience, Different Amounts

Whether God leads someone to give $5 more a month, $25, $50, $100, a large one-time stored resource gift, or a lifestyle sacrifice, every act of trust and obedience matters.

Goal 2: $2,500,000 in 2 years

Our Target

That God would provide $2.5 million over the next 2 years through faithful, sacrificial giving.

Our Scope

Based on conversations with general contractors, our overall project scope is estimated at no greater than $6.3M. This $2.5M primary financial target represents the foundational step toward funding our total project vision as well as our ongoing ministry efforts.

Our Posture

We don't evaluate this opportunity by our limitations, but by the limitless resources, power, and faithfulness of our God.

Our FOR THE ONE Ministry Fund

Rather than a traditional “above and beyond” capital campaign, we want our church to view every dollar given as going toward the singular purpose of making fully devoted followers of Jesus. This includes funds allocated for our various ministries, salaries of our pastors and staff, missions giving, property and grounds expenses, as well as capital needs for new, expanded facilities. Therefore, we desire to see all giving beginning December 6, 2026 to be given to our FOR THE ONE FUND. This fund has two primary allocations:

  • Ministry Operating Cost (Our normal budget)

    • Approx. $900K of the $2.5m will be needed over the next two years for regular ministry operations.

  • New Construction Capital

    • Approx. $1.6M will be put toward the construction and long term debt acquired for the building of our new facilities.

    • We estimate the total construction cost to be no greater than $6.3m. Everything given beyond our ministry operation cost will go to the new construction. Our collective sacrificial generosity will be a direct influencer in the amount of long term debt we must undertake.

NOTE: If you already have recurring giving set up, you will not need to make any changes. However, the designated ‘NEW BUILDING’ fund will close on Dec 1, 2026. If you have recurring giving set up to that specific fund, please simply make one offering to the FOR THE ONE fund.

OUR  JOURNEY

Pray

Before we ask anyone to give, we ask you to seek Him. Pray for wisdom, unity, and a heart aligned with His, asking where He is inviting you to trust Him in this next season.

Consider

Take time to talk with your family, your spouse, or your community group. Consider what joyful, sacrificial generosity looks like for you—whether that means giving up certain comforts, reallocating resources, or stepping out to give for the very first time.

Commit

Lord willing, on November 22, we will all bring to the Lord our FOR THE ONE Commitment Cards. This is a chance for everyone to take time to pray, consider their part, and be ready to make a commitment to respond when the Lord leads. Below are a few examples of how your card might look.

Example 1 - Standard

In example 1, the standard method, Joe normally gives $500 each month to the ministry of Kirkwood Church. Annually, that is $6000.

After spending time in prayer, Joe senses the Lord leading him to expand that giving by an additional $100 per month or $1200 per year for the next two years by sacrificing some extra monthly subscriptions.

Over the course of those two years, Joe will commit FOR THE ONE to $14,400.

Additionally, Joe intends to sell some antique items he’s had in storage, as well as give $1000 from his savings account. This gives him an additional $2000 from his “stored resources.”

All in all, Joe is committing to $16,400 FOR THE ONE.

Example 2 - Lump Sum

In example 2, the Lump Sum method, Kim indicates that she will give $50,000 over the next two years FOR THE ONE.

Kim is able to do this because, after prayer and fasting, she has decided to sacrifically draw from her retirement account to give FOR THE ONE.

While Kim evaluated her retirement reserves to make an appropriate gift, others might consider stored resources from other places in order to participate in FOR THE ONE, such as,

  • Real estate

  • Other personal property or possessions

  • Investment funds (i.e. mutual funds and other marketable securities)

  • Business interest

  • Grain or other farm equipment

  • Cash savings
